Giving back is the goal of the Team Franky Foundation, a nonprofit that started after the Levittown boy passed away from terminal cancer last year.

Tiffany Fusco, the mother of Franky Fusco has made it her goal, as well as the goal of the foundation named in her son’s honor to give back and help other children suffering from similar types of cancer.

Team Franky hosted a fundraiser picnic and “Ride for Franky,” on Saturday behind the Tullytown Borough Hall. The picnic included live music, raffles, food, a DJ, a moon bounce, a dunk tank, costumed characters and more. Roughly 50 motorcyclist participated in “Ride for Franky.”

“[We’re trying to] pull a positive out of the tragedy that happened to us,” Fusco said at the picnic on Saturday.

A huge part of Team Franky is giving back to the community that did so much for Franky, explained Fusco. The turnout for the picnic was strong just a few hours after it kicked off. Adding to the fact that it is a first year event, organizers were very pleased with the turnout. “For our first year, we didn’t know what to expect,” Fusco explained.

The event, which raised money for the foundation, will likely be an annual event, Fusco said. Next year’s fundraiser is already scheduled for August 13, 2016.

“Hopefully it gets bigger and bigger, we’re trying really hard with this,” Fusco explained during the picnic. “It takes a team, and that’s why we’re the Team Franky Foundation,” she said.

“We want children to get involved helping other children and have a good time doing it,” Fusco said.

There were over 30 Team Franky volunteers and 70 sponsors working to make the picnic memorable and effective in fundraising.
